Workshop and Skills Development
Soon he became aware of curious youngsters from the village watching him through the open garage doors. Every day they would return and, always the entertainer, Carlos kept them interested by showing them the various stages of the process. Realising the absence of job opportunities for young people in small rural villages as well as feeling a neccesity to give something back to the community, Carlos identified a couple of the youngsters with the neccesary qualities and talent and started to train them. Currently Carlos employs 6 local people, all of whom have been taught, not only the techniques, but most importantly also the origin of the pieces of art used, the history of their makers etc. At this stage these youngsters are in a position to earn a living as a result of the skills they gained in the process. |
